Adding Facebook chat to pidgin: Pidgin-facebookchat plugin
If you are on Linux (Ubuntu), I am sure you must have tried your hands on Pidgin, one of the most popular and powerful IM client. The beauty of this client is that it supports almost all the IM services like google talk and yahoo messenger. I am also sure that there are many of you who use facebook on a regular basis along with using facebook chat service.
Now wouldn’t it be amazing to integrate facebook chat with Pidgin so that you don’t have to login to facebook to just use the chat service. Well now there’s more than hope to achieve this functionality. All you need is a pidgin-facebookchat plugin and integrate it with pidgin. If you are on Ubuntu or similar debian based linux distro it’s even more easy. All you have to do is follow the steps below:
1. Download the pidgin-facebookchat plugin from here.
2. Double click the deb file you just downloaded and click install.

3. Once installed, restart your pidgin client.
4. Click Accounts and click Manage Accounts. In the accounts window click Add.

5. Select Facebook from the protocol drop down and provide your facebook credentials and click save.

That’s it. Following is how your Pidgin will look once you have added the facebook chat plugin.
