Address Book for Android – Next Step in Communication Management
This is one of the latest Android app released by Asurion Mobile and by the looks of it seems to be a really interesting
and useful app to have. The modes of communication between us are increasing and with the advent of social networking different options have opened up. But to streamline all these communication channels into a single stream is the job done by the Address Book app.
This address book ties most popular social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube or Flickr with your contacts. Address Book is a contacts-management system that cross-matches your contacts from various services known as “Mix-ins.†The app loads contacts from Amazon, Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and YouTube, then auto-matches the names to create a central, detailed profile of the people you know. You may unmatch any profile or get furthur details about a particular contact. You can also back up this information on Asurion’s servers.
From there you may can read tweets, check status, see videos, respond to texts, and see a detailed log of interactions with others. You can customized what updates you wish to receive and whose updates you wish to receive. Clicking on a contact will bring up the relevant content you define through Mix-in auto-matches. Basic description of the primary features :
- MixIns – gives users a choice of the content and services they want to build to get a complete view of their relationships and drive their personal communications. Social networking feeds, photos, videos, games and more can be added directly into the contact views of the address book.
- Smart Contacts – allows contacts in the address book to be turned into mini-applications, giving users quick access to the services and information they need when on the go, such as directory assistance, local search, reservations and customer service.
- Instant Notifications – enables users to view updates from all of their social networks even before they open their address book via the Android notification screen. Users can customize the frequency and content of alerts to include different types of updates, from new photos on Facebook to new followers on Twitter.
- Simple interface – allows users to communicate with the contacts in their mobile phone from one place, with one touch, any way they choose. Users can tap to call, comment, text, tweet, post, email, IM or update their status, for example.
For now, the company isn’t as focused on their business model as they are on just increasing the adoption and the app’s user base. However, they do say that the AddressBook app will remain a free download and will never include in-app ads. It is a really interesting and useful app , which I recommend one must give a try.
