In one my earlier posts, I had talked about a way to get around blocked torrents using YourFreedom. There is another logoway of getting around these blocked torrents and probably I should have talked of this way earlier as it is simpler and easier. This is by using the proxies available on net.

There are numerous proxy providers on net which act as proxies to route the torrent data through their servers. By configuring your torrent client ( bittorrent, utorrent ) one can bypass the firewall on the network set up by the admin. This helps to connect to the peers which is blocked by the network firewall.  I will keep it short here and direct come to the procedure of configuring the torrent client.

Configuration steps

1. Search on the net for http or https proxies. For example some of the proxies can be found here : proxies

2. Open the torrent client ( utorrent) and go to options->preferences.

3. Go to the ‘connections’ tab and configure the ‘proxy server’ label.

4. Set the type as HTTPS , Proxy : ( from one of the names from proxy list), Port : 8080 ( or mentioned along with Proxy name in the proxy list ) as shown in the image. Check the checkbox for options ‘Resolve hostname through proxies’ and ‘ Use proxy server for peer to peer connection’ .

5. Go to the ‘BitTorrent’ tab. Go to the ‘Protocol Encryption’ and disable the encryption for outgoing packets.

6. Thats it, now start downloading your torrents using the proxies at speeds which you could not manage before.
