Ever wondered how to watch videos on youtube in high definition mode. If you did not knew, on youtube you can watch any video in high definition format. If bandwidth is not a concern to you then watching youtube in HD is a wonderful idea. You can achieve this very easily. All you have to do is start a video and check the address bar of your browser.

To play the same video in HD format you just have to add “&fmt=18″ (without quotes) at the end of the address bar. For example, one of the video’s URL is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_IU6ZJTeYA

Now to convert it to HD video format, just add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL. Something like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_IU6ZJTeYA&fmt=18

If you think that the video is taking too much time to buffer you might want to go back to the normal video mode. You can watch any video on youtube in high definition without using the URL parameter, instead by using greasmonkey. But I’ll save that post for some other day!
