java-logo_svg-aSometime back I did a post on Installing Java in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex). That was an exhaustive post on installing Java on your Ubuntu machine. However, I came across an easier method of acheiving the same using Appnr.

Appnr is a web-based tool and a service that install applications on Ubuntu. This is a web interface for APT, and the package is downloaded and installed from Ubuntu/Third-party repositories.

In order to install JRE 6 on your Ubuntu system. Go to:

http://appnr.com/category/network

Look for Sun Java 6 Runtime as shown in the image below:

appnrjava

Click on Install and the installation of Java Runtime 6 should start, if it’s not installed already. Probably one of the easiest ways of getting Java Runtime 6 on Intrepid Ibex.
