google-analyticsCouple of days back I was discussing analytics with someone and I realized that the only reason I have it installed for my websites is to track visitors that too a very lame understanding of visitors. I also realize that I am not into full time professional blogging and hence it makes little sense to invest into understanding and using the service to it’s fullest potential. Nonetheless I wanted to explore some features and thought it’d be worthwhile to discuss one of them here.

1. Reporting is an important aspect of management and hence we’ll see how to set up email alerts in Google Analytics. If you’ll notice on the sidebar of Google analytics interface there’s something that reads Intelligence.

2. Once you click it you’ll notice on the right middle of the page something that reads “Create a Custom Alert“.

3. Make sure when you are creating an you check the box that reads “Email me when this alert is triggered“. Rest of it is dependent on what type of alert you want to receive in your email.

In my case I have set an alert when the visits on my site dips below 700.
