Stumble Upon Gets Smarter!
Before we work on artificial intelligence why don’t we do something about natural stupidity? ~Steve Polyak
I have always been an advocate of “Wisdom of the Crowd”. Stumble upon and similar sites have a great advantage over 100% algorithm based services. The advantage is that of human touch. However, adding a bit of AI along with the human element is such sites doesn’t harm anyone. In fact it enhances the experience by marrying the two concepts of Human Touch and AI.
The above “kind of philosophical argument” is to talk about a new feature in the stumble upon toolbar. Not that this feature was not there, but now it’s more prominent and much more impelling. When you are on highly organic websites, like wikipedia and wordpress blogs, stumble upon pops a message (like the one in the screen shot) for you to start stumbling on similar sites.
For some of the users, it might look a little bit of a nag but trust me if you love stumbling upon, you’ll love this feature. Drop a line to tell if you like this feature.
