We protect our systems with strongest antivirus and are quite particular not to let any virus infect ours system. New malwares and virus target users everyday. Along with torrents, emails and downloadable files, websites are a one of the common modes of virus infection. Now you can check a website for any virus or malware even without visiting the site.

Website named : URLVoid.com helps you quickly scan any websites for virus or malware. It is extremely simple to use.

1. Go to the website URLVoid( link given above)

2. Enter the URL of any Web site, without the http:www, and click Scan Now.

3. You can view a report states numerous details about the website like IP address, host country, domain hash and other information. It also gives the status of the website that is if it is clean or not.

The report is also confirmed with including Google Diagnostic, BrowserDefender, McAfee SiteAdvisor and Norton SafeWeb.

Although there can be no definite guarantee that I site will not be used by hackers or be completely safe but URLVoid gives results which could be trusted to large extent. The site also lists URLs with known detections.

So next time you feel the site might be dangerous, the result is just a scan away.

In such a scenario what you can do is try Jotti’s Malware Scan, its an online service which scans your files with more than 20 well known Anti-Virus tools.

The process to scan the file is quite simple. Simply go to the website, browse and select the file that you need to scan and click on the Submit File button. The site will then scan your file using more than 20 different scanning tools. The only flaw that i found with this site is that the maximum size of the file that you can scan in only 15 Mb

What’s the first or almost first thing that you do when you install a fresh Windows operating system. Of course you get yourself an Anti-virus or an Internet Security Suit. It’s synonymous Windows and Viruses. I don’t have to bother about that when I am on my Linux partition. So, after I installed Windows 7, I wanted to get my self a cover to avoid those viruses and malwares.

I have a Trend PcCillin subscription and I gave it a shot on Windows 7 only to find out that it caused more problems than being a source of solution. The reason was simple it was incompatible with Windows 7. I had to remove it with a lot of effort. And just to avoid the effort again I did not try installing it in compatibility mode. So, I went looking for something that might be compatible.

So, I decided to search something that was compatible and hence ended up looking at Microsoft official page that talks about the compatible AntiVirus or Internet Security. Thankfully for me I got a 6 month key for Kaspersky and importantly that it was compatible. Following are the vendors whose AntiVirus and/or Internet Security Solution is compatible with Windows 7.

Norton 2009 products. More precisely Norton 360 Version 3.0 Beta

AVG both Pro and free version

Kaspersky

I am sure there will be more compatible applications as the development and testing of Windows 7 reaches final phase. I cannot say anything about other services which might be compatible. But Trend Micro PcCilling IS 2009 Pro is not compatible.
