This is one of the latest Android app released by Asurion Mobile and by the looks of it seems to be a really interesting and useful app to have. The modes of communication between us are increasing and with the advent of social networking different options have opened up. But to streamline all these communication channels into a single stream is the job done by the Address Book app.

This address book ties most popular social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube or Flickr with your contacts. Address Book is a contacts-management system that cross-matches your contacts from various services known as “Mix-ins.” The app loads contacts from Amazon, Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and YouTube, then auto-matches the names to create a central, detailed profile of the people you know. You may unmatch any profile or get furthur details about a particular contact. You can also back up this information on Asurion’s servers.

From there you may can read tweets, check status, see videos, respond to texts, and see a detailed log of interactions with others. You can customized what updates you wish to receive and whose updates you wish to receive. Clicking on a contact will bring up the relevant content you define through Mix-in auto-matches. Basic description of the primary features :

MixIns – gives users a choice of the content and services they want to build to get a complete view of their relationships and drive their personal communications. Social networking feeds, photos, videos, games and more can be added directly into the contact views of the address book.

Smart Contacts – allows contacts in the address book to be turned into mini-applications, giving users quick access to the services and information they need when on the go, such as directory assistance, local search, reservations and customer service.

Instant Notifications – enables users to view updates from all of their social networks even before they open their address book via the Android notification screen. Users can customize the frequency and content of alerts to include different types of updates, from new photos on Facebook to new followers on Twitter.

Simple interface – allows users to communicate with the contacts in their mobile phone from one place, with one touch, any way they choose. Users can tap to call, comment, text, tweet, post, email, IM or update their status, for example.

For now, the company isn’t as focused on their business model as they are on just increasing the adoption and the app’s user base. However, they do say that the AddressBook app will remain a free download and will never include in-app ads. It is a really interesting and useful app , which I recommend one must give a try.

Here is a small video displaying the features of the app.

Vertu , the brand producing costliest phones in the industry, has finally come up with the a clamshell as its latest offering. The company is known for its high end (too high rather) mobile phones has now come out with its first flip phone called : Contellation Ayxta

Though vertu has come with its flip model so late but looking at the perfection the phone has been made with it seems the time taken to come out with this creation might be worth it.

Vertu has retained some of its trademark designs in this new phone but it has also enhanced some of the features to create a value for this latest model. The stainless steel chasis with aluminium detailing , as with all vertu phones, is present in this model also. Also leather and ceramic accents remain the trademark design features. The trademark crystal sapphire screen is the same as earlier but with an addition of 1.3 inch external display ( 128 x 160 pixels) and 2.2 inch internal display ( 320 x 480 pixels). Some other features :

3 M.P. camera with LED flash

micro SD slot for cards upto 8 Gb

3G connectivity

GPS

The two premium services by vertu are the selling points of this phone. First is the vertu concierge – a button to contact 24 hour concierge service which connects the user to ‘lifestyle manager’ who can manage all sorts of requests of the customer like booking plane tickets, order gifts etc.

The second service is the Vertu city brief. When a customer arrives in a new country, the handset uses the GPS to automatically alter the clock to the local timezone and inform the user of the best new restaurants, plays, concerts and events happening in that city that week. Businessmen will also be informed of the local business etiquette.

Another service is Vertu select. Vertu Select is another feature added to the Ayxta, which is basically an online service with exclusive “lifestyle information”, presumably telling you what the latest hip bars are in your area.

As expected this vertu phone also comes with a large price tag oof about 4900 euros. So the vertu loyalists who complained about not having a clamshell to choose from , now have no reasons not to own a stylish vertu flip phone.

Samsung has launched a new mobile phone which has an OS based on Linux. This phone is a first major linux based handset in recent times and is a bold step by Samsung. The phone called H1 and also another variant called M1 are being launched by Samsung in association with Vodafone and are currently being launched in U.K.

The H1 has a brilliant 3.5” WVGA AMOLED displaywith a host of other features which makes it an interesting option to look at. The features of fast HSDPA at 7.2 mbps and Wifi connectivity allow easy connectivity to net on the go. The special interface provides quick and easy access to social networking sites. Some of the other features include 5 MP camera, GPRS, GPS, Push email, HD video capability and media player with support of various media codecs. It has a 16 Gb of internal memory and slot for micro Sd card ( 16 Gb) to allow user to store different multimedia files.

The other set M1 has HSDPA, 3.2 TFT Touchscreen Display, Push email, 3 M.P. Camera and 1 Gb of rxpandable memory. This set would be available in 3 colour variants.

The advantages of a Linux based OS are also there. The LiMo is more flexible , broader focus than other exisitng operating systems. All the advantages of linux also apply here. It would be interesting to see how this Os puts up against the existing market leaders. Is this going to intensify the race to best OS or will the exisitng OS still rule the roost ? Another question is how will samsung justify its use of different OS in different phones and convince users that both are worth spending on.

Here’s a video :

Are you troubled by calls from an unknown number ?You miss the calls and don’t know who’s is it? If you knew the location anf probably the service provider of the number ,you might be able to know the caller? or on roaming you wish to know the service provider and the location of the caller? Here is small ,light application which lets you know all this information.

Mobile Phone Info is very light application created by an individual developer. This application helps you to find the service provider of any phone number you wish to know. Also gives you the information about the location of that number. You just need to type in the number and it will display both results in an instant. It takes the information from the HLR( Home location register) of the phone number stored at the database of the service provider. So the information with the provider is relayed to you.

The application is a ‘.jar’ application and thus can be installed on any java enabled phone. It is not symbian dependent and is available for any phone with java capabilities. This application might be useful for many and one may find different uses of the information.

(Note: This application works only for Indian users)
