Auto Mute is a portable volume control software that allows you to mute the welcome sound when you switch on your computer. It comes with numerous interesting features. It can be used to automatically mute sound on logoff , suspend or shutdown so that whenever the system starts next time ,it is mute. The next system start is absolutely silent even if you forgot to turn the sound off in previous session. After that you can enable sound effects manually, using a shortcut combination. You an also use the keyboard shortcut to enable or disable mute operation while working normally.

The default shortcut provided is ctrl+f10 but the key can be configured. The only other options provided by the volume control software are to run the program during startup and to play a computer beep sound whenever the state of the sound changes from mute to on and vice verse.

The software is portable for Windows and is supported in Win7 as well as Win Vista.

The process to scan the file is quite simple. Simply go to the website, browse and select the file that you need to scan and click on the Submit File button. The site will then scan your file using more than 20 different scanning tools. The only flaw that i found with this site is that the maximum size of the file that you can scan in only 15 Mb

Stickies is a simple application designed to serve a purpose, it doesn’t support animation not would you find eye catching graphics with it. Its simply a rectangular window on the screen on which you can place text notes. Once created the text notes will stay with you till the time you take them of. Thus whenever you log on to the machine you would be reminded of the pending work

Installation is pretty simple and would not take more than a minute or so.

After the installation you can start adding your own to do things or the thhings you need to remember on the stickies. It would look like the sample screen shot shown below.

The next image shows the various options  that are provided with this application. These include changing the color, the opacity of the notes and many other options. The most useful one according to me is the ability to set an alarm reminding you for a particular task or job that needs to be done.

I admit this application is not flashy or something out of this world. But it certainly has a lot of functional usage. So feel free to try this small and simple application.

The installation of the software is pretty simple you just need to follow the directions of the windows installer and the within minutes desktop would be up and running on your system.

You will be seeing a little blue genie in the bottom right corner of the screen. It is the default buddy that you have. Its sort of cute, but then if you don’t like it, you can tweak it up or even get a new character.Here we are presenting the settings window. It shows all the options that are there to customize the DeskBot buddy.Here you can set the various things that the Genie needs to read for you . It also has the option of reading out the time for you at an interval set by you.

Now if you click on the “Greetings” Tab then from here you can set up to 5 greetings which it will read out to you when the computer starts up.

Another advantage of this software is that it can be used as a tool for helping those who are learning how to speak English , or the elderly or other people who find it difficult to read from the scree. For them the “Read” Tab is an excellent help

Another thing that adds a new dimension to this application is that you can download additional characters and voice types from the download page. The link for the same is provided in the “Download” Tab

All in all this is a fun application to have on your system. It might not add some additional functionality to your machine, but it certainly brings a smile on your face.

KeyPass is a utility that allows you to easily manage all your passwords, it lets you store them in a database file encrypted with a master password. Thus the only thing that you need to remember is the master password. Its a simple application with a friendly interface and is pretty much easy to use.

The installation is pretty easy, you simply need to follow the instructions provided by the installer and the application would be installed.

After you have installed the software, first of all you need to create a new database to store all your passwords. For this click on the “File” and then “new ”

When you click on new you will be asked to create a master password, it is this password that you need to remember. Try on keeping a strong password which is difficult to guess and contains a combination of letters(both uppercase and lowercase) and numbers. The software by itself will tell the strength of the password chosen by you

Rather than choosing your own password, you can also use a random password generated by the software itself.

Now that you are done with the password you can start entering your password. To begin right click on the open window and click on add entry

Now when you are done with adding all the passwords. click on the close button, the following window will open asking you to save all changes. Click on save and all your passwords are stored in a single secure file.

Now if anyone else tries to open your database , then he/she would need the master password as depicted in the screen shot below

Thus you need not worry about the safety of your passwords anymore. Thus in all KeyPass is a smart and easy way to secure all your passwords at one place.
