1. Phone Set Up

- Go to site to phone from your laptop and click setup with your phone.

- The site will generate a unique link and ask you to visit the link using your phone browser.

- Follow the instructions on the page which are adjusted as per you smartphone OS.

- After completing the setup, click on Complete Setup.

2. Browser Setup

There are two ways of sending links to your phone. Either you can go to site to phone website and use Quick Send and send the links to your phone. You don’t have to install an addon or create an account in this case.

3. Sending the link to your phone

- Go to your phone’s app launcher and open the bookmark you created earlier.

- This will launch the webpage, the link of which  you just sent to your phone

You can also view the history of the sent links.

Auto Mute is a portable volume control software that allows you to mute the welcome sound when you switch on your computer. It comes with numerous interesting features. It can be used to automatically mute sound on logoff , suspend or shutdown so that whenever the system starts next time ,it is mute. The next system start is absolutely silent even if you forgot to turn the sound off in previous session. After that you can enable sound effects manually, using a shortcut combination. You an also use the keyboard shortcut to enable or disable mute operation while working normally.

The default shortcut provided is ctrl+f10 but the key can be configured. The only other options provided by the volume control software are to run the program during startup and to play a computer beep sound whenever the state of the sound changes from mute to on and vice verse.

INSTALLATION

After downloading the Windows Vista IP Configuration Tool package, simply copy its three files to a folder :

• XCopy Tool.hta
• FileCab.ico
• XCopy Tool-ReadMe.doc

USING THE TOOL

1. To launch the tool, Just double click on the HTA file

2. The shown screen is displayed and one can move the pointer over a switch to see the function of the switch.

3. Click the Select Source and Select Destination buttons and make your folder/ drive selections.

4. After confirming the source and destination folders , you can begin selecting options.

5. You can then choose from any of the 30 available XCopy command options. But you must know about Xcopy command and know how the combinations of different options work.

6. After you click ‘OK’, you’ll be prompted to confirm the operation before you proceed.

7. After you click ‘OK’, a Command Prompt window will open and display the result.

You can switch between the tiled view of windows that is so common with mac users.

You can also move over to ‘Dock’ view which as shown below displays the current Window in larger tile and using the tab key one can switch between the window tiles.

If you wish to alter certain parameters in the features , there is a customisation feature in in standard as well as advanced customisation options.

You may choose any default key for starting up the program but the default key is Win +Tab but this will replace the pre designed feature of Flip 3D present in the Windows. But you can define separate shortcut for using Flip 3D using Switcher.

Stickies is a simple application designed to serve a purpose, it doesn’t support animation not would you find eye catching graphics with it. Its simply a rectangular window on the screen on which you can place text notes. Once created the text notes will stay with you till the time you take them of. Thus whenever you log on to the machine you would be reminded of the pending work

Installation is pretty simple and would not take more than a minute or so.

After the installation you can start adding your own to do things or the thhings you need to remember on the stickies. It would look like the sample screen shot shown below.

The next image shows the various options  that are provided with this application. These include changing the color, the opacity of the notes and many other options. The most useful one according to me is the ability to set an alarm reminding you for a particular task or job that needs to be done.

I admit this application is not flashy or something out of this world. But it certainly has a lot of functional usage. So feel free to try this small and simple application.

Here are a few useful Linux Keyboard shortcuts :

1. Arrow up or Arrow down : The up pr down key when used in a terminal windows allows to cycle through history the commands used in the terminal windows. Using this shortcut you don’t have to retype the commands and also you don’t need to remember what commands you issued earlier in the session.

2. Alt + Arrow Key : In Linux pager allows you to have multiple desktops at one time. Instead of moving the mouse to the window to switch between different desktops , you can use Alt + Arrow keys to switch between the different desktops.This works in all desktop environments and window managers.

3. Alt + Tab : This shortcut allows you to cycle through different windows and stop on the window which you want to open. Instead of using mouse to click on the window you want to open , you can use this shortcut to good effect. This works in most dektop environments.

4. Ctrl + Alt + Del : If you are stuck and everything else fails to work , you can use this  shortcut to immediately restart your computer . Though you will loose all your unsaved data , so you must use this command carefully.

5. Ctrl + Alt + Backspace : You can use this shortcut when X isn’t responding or some program has held up your desktop and nothing is responding. This shortcut logs you out of X and takes you back to login screen. It works with all desktop environments and window managers.

6. Ctrl + Alt + F* : This is a useful shortcut which switches between various virtual terminals. You can use this shortcut to switch to terminals 1,2,3 etc with shortcut Ctrl + Alt + F1, Ctrl + Alt + F2, Ctrl + Alt + F3 etc. This will open a text based terminal window which can be used for debugging  and terminating applications.

7. Ctrl + C : When you are working in a terminal window , you can kill a process which you are following with Ctrl + C command.

8. Ctrl + R : This is a useful command research option. When you use this shortcut , you are prompted to enter a character or a string of characters. You’ll get all the command you may have used earlier with the search character in it or the combination of search characters. Once the search result appears on the screen, you can press enter to execute the command.

9. Ctrl + Z : This will zombie an application. If you want to put the application in the background but not kill the process and get back to the terminal , use this command to put the process back in the background.

10.  Ctrl + a and Ctrl + e : When working in a text editor , you can get to the end of the line using Ctrl + a and beginning of the line  using  Ctrl + e. These sh0rtcuts do not work in GUI environment.
