WindowsPager: An open source solution for Virtual Desktop on Windows
Are you a heavy PC user? Do you redefine the word multi-tasking with countless applications running at the same time on your machine? Or are you one of the guys who wished he could hide a few applications and windows at work? Welcome to the world of virtualization! I am actually astonished that this feature hasn’t been a native feature provided in Windows. Talk about Linux and most of the famous distros support desktop virtualization. So let’s see first what desktop virtualization is:
Virtual desktops provide a “virtual” space, in which the user can place their applications’ windows. Each virtual desktop occupies a defined portion of the screen arranged in a matrix or grid. Application windows and icons can be moved between desktops, increasing a user’s ability to organize their windowed applications that are currently running by reducing clutter. [via. wikipedia]
There are various softwares out there in the market both commercial and free which can help you achieve desktop virtualization on Windows platform. However, nothing beats an open source application. With close to half and MB in size, WindowsPager is one such promising application.
